Frequently Asked Questions
What is Zenthai Shiatsu?
Zenthai Shiatsu is a movement-based therapy that integrates Zen Shiatsu, Thai Massage, and Osteopathy. It addresses structural issues, energetic imbalances, and emotional stagnation through mindful touch, stretching, and rhythmic movement. Treatments help restore freedom in the body, regulate the nervous system, and promote deep relaxation.
What conditions does it support?
Zenthai Shiatsu can assist with a wide range of physical, emotional, and energetic concerns, including:
Musculoskeletal pain, stiffness, and injury recovery
Nervous system dysregulation, anxiety, and stress
Digestive issues and fatigue
Insomnia and disrupted sleep
Emotional stagnation or mental health challenges
Pregnancy-related discomfort and preparation for birth
Is Zenthai Shiatsu safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Pregnancy Zenthai Shiatsu is a specialised treatment that provides safe, gentle, and supportive care throughout the pregnancy journey. Maddie uses bolsters and cushions to ensure comfort, and techniques are carefully adapted for each stage of pregnancy. Optional therapies like cupping or moxibustion are only offered when appropriate and safe.
What should I wear?
Loose, comfortable clothing such as yoga pants, leggings, or a T-shirt is ideal. Treatments are performed fully clothed on a floor mat, so wear something that allows easy movement and comfort.
How long are treatments?
Maddie offers both 60-minute and 90-minute sessions. Longer sessions are ideal if you’re working with multiple areas of concern, or if you prefer a deeper, more comprehensive treatment.
What happens in a session?
Each session begins with a short consultation to discuss your health, symptoms, and goals. Maddie then creates a treatment plan unique to you. Techniques may include gentle stretches, compressions, rocking movements, cupping, or moxibustion. Most people leave feeling lighter, calmer, and more connected.
